How long does it take to heal after a tattoo?

Why do tattoos start to itch while healing?

A majority of new tattoos healing process will be done within the first two weeks.  However, the skin is still working to heal and rejuvenate itself.  It may take 4-6 weeks for your skin to be back to its previous state.

As the skin rejuvenates itself, the itch sets in usually about a week after your tattoo appointment.  This is 100% normal, but DO NOT SCRATCH IT! Sag uses Sani-derm to help with the healing process, however we also offer after-care lotion at the shop to help with healing and rejuvenation.

How should I prepare for my tattoo appointment?

Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated and have eaten recently.  Aside from that, take a shower and be sure to have your phone charged!  We also recommend to wear something comfortable to your appointment. DO NOT drink before your appointment. Alcohol will thin your blood and can cause excessive bleeding.

What is the age requirement for tattoos?

The age requirement is 18 years old.  We require a state issued ID, driver's license or passport.

HAIR

What hair services do you provide?

How much are your services?

Because we believe in high quality and luxurious experiences, our haircuts start at $40 and our color starts at $100.  We also offer tape-in extensions, body waves and special occasion style.  To ensure an optimal experience, we require a three hour minimum for color services with new clients.

How should I prep my hair before my appointment?

Your hair should be washed and dried the night prior.  If you have too many natural oils built up, it can become a barrier between the product and your hair. It may result in not being able to reach maximum lift or the product won't be able to retain properly.

How soon after should I wash my hair after my appointment?

  • Coloring Services: We suggest 72 hours, but at minimum, 48 hours.  We want you hair to take in the color as much as possible, so the longer you go without washing your hair, the longer your hair color will last.

  • Extensions: For longevity, we request at least 3 days before you wash your hair. The adhesive needs at least 72 hours to settle.

Do I need to prep before my appointment?

Prior to your appointment, please arrive without any eye makeup.  Do not curl your lashes or wear mascara the day before and the day of your appointment.  It will help minimize the cleanup time and more time for lashing.

How long will my new lashes last?

How often should I be coming in for lash refills?

Your new lashes will last between two to four weeks depending on your skincare routine and your own lash life cycle.  To maintain the full set, it will require you to maintain refills every two to four weeks.

CURLY HAIR
What is a curly haircut?
A haircut technique designed specifically for textured hair.

This cutting technique is when a stylist cuts your hair while it's dry, unlike typical methods. The stylist can cut the hair based on how it naturally falls when styled in its curly state, creating a more flattering shape.

Why should I get a curly haircut?
A curly haircut enhances natural texture and is designed for your hair needs, making it easier to manage and style. The cut reduces frizz and tangles, saves styling time, and provides versatility to create different styles.

Tips for choosing the right shape for you:

To choose the best haircut for curly hair, experiment with different styles and find a reference image that matches your hair texture. Consulting with a stylist can also help you find a style that suits your unique look.

How do I prepare for a curly haircut?

Come to your appointment with your hair washed, conditioned, detangled, and let your hair air dry. It's that easy - there's no need to blow dry or manipulate your hair in any way. Avoid twists, braids, or any other methods of tying it up. Keep it simple and let your hair do its thing.

Please read the FAQ’s fully prior to inquiring to see if this procedure is right for you!

What is Microblading/Ombé Powder/Combination Brows?

  • Microblading and ombré eyebrows or a combination of the two are a form of cosmetic tattoo that is semi-permanent and lasts for about 1-3 years. The pigment is implanted into the skin, beneath the surface of the skin, by means of a disposable needle which gives the appearance of hair strokes.

  • Microblading | Suitable for normal, dry skin types.

    • Done with disposable microblade pen, not machine.

    • Gives the most natural fluffy looking brows.

    • Will add hair-like strokes to enhance your natural shape of the eyebrows.

    • Recommended for clients with a good amount of natural brow hair.

    • Not suitable for combo/oily skin type.

  • Ombré Powder Brows |  Suitable for most skin types.

    • Done with a machine and needle, also known as MICROSHADING.

    • The brows are filled all over with colors, and done by machine technique.

    • The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light beginning to the brow, giving a perfect powder filled makeup look.

    • It is also recommended for clients who have previous eyebrow tattoos and oily skin.

  • Combination Brows | Suitable for dry, normal or combo skin types.

    • Combined techniques of microblading and microshading, which offers both powdered and hair strokes.

    • It offers the best of both 'powdered' and 'hair strokes' effects, mixed together to achieve a natural yet defined brow.

    • The front brow is bladed with hair strokes, and the middle to tails are powdered.

How long do the eyebrows typically last?

  • These procedure outcomes are considered semi-permanent and will fade over time.

  • They may need to be refreshed every year in order to keep lines crisp, otherwise they will fade after 1-3 years.

  • Frequency of sessions depends on a number of factors including the color pigment used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), and if any form of exfoliators come into contact with the treated area.

*Please note that final results cannot be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. You may book a touch up session 6 weeks after the initial appointment to fill in any areas that have faded after the healing process.*

What factors will affect my eyebrow tattoo?

  • Sun Exposure: The sun will soften the look of your tattoo. Once healed, sunblock should be applied daily to prevent eyebrows from fading as quickly.

  • The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigmentholds.

  • The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold. This depends on the thickness level of the skin.

  • The choice of color: The choice of lighter pigments will fade much quicker than dark pigments.

  • Bleeding during the procedure: Bleeding will reduce the pigment absorption as blood will push out the colors.

  • Consuming alcohol and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should not be taken at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

How should I prepare myself for my eyebrow tattoo?

  • You may fill in your eyebrows with make up  as you normally would so I can take into consideration the shape you desire.

  • Do not wax or tweeze your eyebrows at least a week prior to the appointment. Please let me see how your natural hairs grow so I can determine the best shape for you.

  • If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.

  • I require my clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen.

  • Do not consume ANY alcohol for at least 24hrs prior to your appointment.

  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.

  • If you get Botox injections, we must wait at least 2 weeks after your last injection, then you must wait another 2 weeks after your tattoo to resume injections.

  • Must be off from any facials, chemical peels, electrolysis, laser treatment 4 weeks prior to procedure.

  • It is highly recommended that you avoid sun and tanning 2 weeks before and after your procedure. If you show up to your appointment with a new tan or sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

Am I a good candidate for this?

  • If you have extremely oily skin, microblading may not work as well for you. Combination or Ombré eyebrows will be recommended. The constant production of oil will cause the hair strokes to heal with a diffused, softer look. Your end result will appear more powdered than you would expect instead of crisp lines.

  • If you are a frequent smoker, your pigment may fade sooner.

  • If you are iron deficient or anemic, your pigment may fade sooner and bleeding/bruising may occur during and after the procedure.

  • If you have had your eyebrows previously tattooed and are interested in a cover-up/re-work, you must bring this to my attention and send me photos of your current eyebrows.*

*No guaranteed results for such cases, and must be approved. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored, or too large, tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the cover-up/re-work. Previously tattooed areas and cover-ups will require additional touch-ups for the best results.
